Strategic plan for the implementation of support to private veterinary practices in Nigeria
Nigeria, with a human population of over 200 million and a livestock population of 76 million goats, 43.5 million sheep, 180 million poultry, 18.4 million cattle, 7.5 million pigs and close to 2 million rabbits, (FMARD, 2017) have been facing a variety of threats of infectious diseases and other diseases that have become largely endemic due to several factors, among which are inadequate veterinary services and lack of luster approach to disease prevention and control.
